Every February the Wiener Staatsoper turns into the world’s most beautiful and elegant ball room for the Vienna Opera Ball: a high class gala of unique splendor and allure. THE ball takes place in Vienna and we want you to enjoy the glamour and prominence in the most spectacular ball room of the world adorned with awesome floral decorations.
The Vienna Opera Ball is an annual Austrian society event which takes on the Thursday preceding Ash Wednesday (a religious holiday). Those in attendance often include visitors from around the world, especially prominent names in business and politics. The Opera Ball receives media coverage from a range of outlets. Together with the New Year Concert, the ball is one of the highlights of the most important events in the country.
The Opera Ball receive around 5000 visitors who party away and dance into the small hours of the morning – international celebrities from the world of culture, business, politics, academia and sports make the ball a high-key social event.
Opera and ballet stars, the orchestra of Wiener Staatsoper and the Vienna State Ballet all contribute to the glamorous opening, and many millions of spectators will be watching on their screens how the 150 young couples “debutanten” forming the young ladies and young men’s committee make their dream come true and dance the first polonaise on this unique ballroom floor. After that, it’s Alles Walzer or “Let the waltz begin!“
